From the Pastor

Through the generosity of several parishioners, we are able to add a secondary wall in the chapel to assist in dampening the sound between the parish offices and chapel.  The chapel will be closed for a few days to allow for construction and drywall.  Painting will take place later in the winter which may result in closing the chapel a couple of more days.

In addition, a spring project involving the building of a fence to enclose the backyard of the rectory will take place.  This also has been made possible through the gifts of parishioners. Neither project is coming out of parish funds. My sincerest thanks to those who have made these improvements possible through their generosity.

Fr. Donn

Congratulations to the Quilt Winner

Congratulations go to Darrel Cardy who was the lucky winner of the quilt donated by Shirley Burghduf.  Total proceeds of $620 went to the Giving Tree!

The youth group is hosting a chili cook-off on Saturday, January 30th and is open to the first 20 entrants!  Entries must be donated and require a large pot of chili to be tested by others.  The proceeds from this fun event will help defray costs to our nearly 60 participants who are attending Catholic HEART Workcamp in July.  A sign-up sheet is in the back of the church.   Sign up early for your chance to be recognized as the Chili Queen or King!

A checklist has been placed on the table in the Narthex to assist you with ideas of what to shop for (look for the sign). Please notify the Parish Ministry Office by completing the form available on the table in the Narthex and place it in the Offertory Basket at Mass, mail it, or call Kate in the office at 893-3085.

Heading South for the Winter

If you are preparing to head South within the next few weeks, please call Kate in the Parish Office at 893-3085, to let her know the dates you will be away and whether your contribution envelopes should be forwarded to your "winter" address while you are gone.  Notifying the office now will save postage on mailing/returning your envelopes.

Catholic HEART Workcamp Update!

It may seem a bit early to be thinking about a Workcamp for next summer, but without early planning, we risk not being able to get into the camp of our choice!

With our youth numbers increasing each year, it is imperative to provide the youth with fundraising oppportunities that enable them to attend camp at a reasonable cost.

The proposed Next Level Camp for 2010 which is open to those just entering 9th grade to 20-year olds, is in Louisville, KY from June 27 - July 3.

New in 2010, our current junior high youth through 20-year olds will be offered the opportunity to attend a regular camp in Champaign, IL from July 18 - 24.

These dates are tentative and based on final confirmation from CHWC. Next Level camps offer the same programming as the regular camps but there is an increased focus on spirituality through one evening of Adoration and also daily Mass.
